Angela Hanson, LPCA

Angela Hanson, LPCA, is a Louisville-based therapist offering compassionate, relational, and trauma-informed therapy for adults and couples. Through a collaborative and body-aware approach, Angela helps clients reconnect with themselves, explore their internal experiences, and build a more honest and grounded relationship with who they are. Her work centers on supporting individuals who feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to trust themselves - guiding them toward greater self-understanding, emotional clarity, and self-trust.

License/Certifications

Angela Hanson is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) in the state of Kentucky.

She also holds the following certifications and specialized training:

  • AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy)

  • IPNB (Interpersonal Neurobiology)

  • Gottman Level 1 (Couples Therapy)

  • KAP Certified (Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy) through Fluence

Personal Approach

Angela’s approach is relational, attuned, and grounded in respect for your autonomy. Therapy is not about fixing or pushing away uncomfortable feelings, but rather creating a space where you can safely notice and understand your internal experience - your thoughts, emotions, and bodily responses - with support.

She incorporates co-regulation, curiosity, and present-moment awareness, including what arises within the therapeutic relationship itself. Sessions are paced collaboratively, allowing space for self-discovery and for building a more trusting relationship with yourself over time.

Angela offers customized grounding tools, coping strategies, and reflective practices, while emphasizing that these approaches should feel aligned with your lived experience rather than prescribed solutions.

Treatment Philosophy

Angela believes therapy is most powerful when it supports the development of a compassionate and honest relationship with yourself. Her work emphasizes both insight and embodiment - helping you not only understand yourself more deeply, but also learn how to stay connected to yourself, even in moments of discomfort.

She views emotional experiences as meaningful signals rather than problems to eliminate. By gently exploring what arises in the present moment, clients can begin to uncover patterns, deepen self-trust, and reconnect with their own voice after periods of self-doubt or self-abandonment.
